Blas

15 February 2011, 07:00PM - 09:00PM

Blas is a new monthy film club by CityArts, launching in January 2011. Meaning taste in Irish along with the other Celtic languages, the aim of Blas is to raise awareness of the underrated and overlooked genre of minority language film, placing special emphasis on films in the Celtic languages and connecting them with each other through common themes.

Involving both short and feature-length films from across the Celtic nations and Europe, Blas also plays host to talks with a selection of Ireland’s talented directors, screenwriters and actors. The event is finished off with music and refreshments, all taking place in the stylish setting of the CityArts building on Bachelor’s Walk.

A social event with a twist, Blas is a bilingual night of film and music, ridding the Celtic languages of the Peig Sayers image and presenting them in an urban, contempory and stylish light.

Blas is curated by Scott De Buitléir and gratefully part-funded by the Dublin Bus Community Support Programme.
